Jerry Harrington began his career writing about Iowa History after his 2014 retirement from DuPont. since then, he received the George Mills/Louise Noun-Award by the State Historical Society fro the most significant article published on a popular history topic for his series"Governors of influence," and he received an honorable mention for the same award the next year for "First in the Nation: A Histroy of Iowa Caucuses." Jerry has spent several years delving into the results o his research during his keynote address.

Dan Gable is unmatched as an internationally known and revered athlete and coach. As a college wrestler, an Olympic Gold medalist, Big Ten coach, and an Olympic Coach, Gable not only has an unbelievable individual winning record but also an incredible record of leading others to achieve success. He has been named the top wrestler of the 20th Century by Gannett News Service; listed as one of the top coaches in the
20th Century by ESPN and named Iowa’s top “sports figure” in the past 100 years. In 1996, Gable was named one of the “100 Golden Olympians”, an honor bestowed to the top 100 U.S.
Olympians of all time. During the 2012 Olympics Gable was inducted into the UWW Hall of Fame Legends of the Sport category. He was the 3rd person in the World to have this honor bestowed upon them at that time.

 

Gable has added author and motivation speaker to his impressive resume. Throughout his life and career, he has exemplified not only what it means to be a lifelong learner, but what it means to help others to become lifelong learners.
